The partnership has its roots in an earlier collaboration in the 1990s between Sasso and engineer Jean-François Bansard, together with THEE, a French company specializing in the construction of hydroelectric turbines. Solutions developed by THEE led to collaboration with Andritz Hydro, which is interested in the small hydropower sector. The experience gained at Andritz led to the creation of FUGU-Tech, founded by the current partners with the goal of preserving and innovating historical know-how in low-power hydroelectric turbine design.
